Not that it will be much of a surprise but hey ho! Here it is in all it's finished glory! I am pleased as it turned out much better that I expected, but more over budget than I wanted! I think all in all this big project cost me about £60, but that includes quite a bit of fabric that I have left over to make other things perhaps! Not bad when we were looking at a grand plus for a new one!
So, now I have my sofa, off I go to get my book, no distractions thank-you very much!
See you again, I hope!

Book shopping and a big project update!
Eeeeeeeee, I am quite excited today as I have bought a new book and a used one for my collection!
I try to curb my book collecting addiction but when it comes to my favourite author, a Mr Patrick Ness, I just can't resist! I read the first chapter of his new adult book a couple of weeks ago and have watched his various TV interviews and decided on a whim, to purchase it.
The Crane Wife looks like an intriguing read and I can't wait to dive into the story written for adults. I also picked up a copy of Bill Bryson's 'Shakespeare' in a charity shop (less guilt there!) as I have been really enjoying his book, Home!
Unfortunately, I wish I had the time to lounge on the sofa, (mmmmm,) to read! I have two more cushion covers to make before I can do that! They are coming along, albeit slowly. I can't wait for it to be finished, but I do have another little quilting project in the pipeline. Today was a good day, even if it was a bit of an unexpected spend day!
Off to do some sewing,

Day fifty, a little bit of a result!
It took me longer than I had hoped, was more fiddly than I expected but turned out better than I anticipated! My first cushion cover is finished! Only another five to go. I feel a real sense of achievement here because of the curves, the zip, and the huge amount of piping! It's not perfect but I am happy! The others will be easier, I hope!

Day forty six - voila, ta dah, finished!
All before lunch, mother number two and I celebrated the finishing of the slip cover. I will let the pictures do the talking.....
From the blank canvas of a naked sofa to the grand adornment of the finished article. Now I have to crack on with covering the cushions.

Day forty two but Day One of the Big project!
I had a few jobs to do in the morning before I could really knuckle down to some hard sewing work! My mother number two came over to help me in the afternoon and despite us spending quite a few hours ripping seams, cutting out pieces and contemplating our next move ( we did this one a lot!) we don't have an awful lot to show just yet. However we both feel very positive about our next move tomorrow.
In the morning I will have my mum and sister round to have their input in this project. I think we will concentrate on the patchwork pillows until mum no.2 can come over to continue with the loose cover! Sorted! So now I need to provide the sustenance for my family, oh a women's work is never done!
Till tomorrow with a hopefully much more detailed account of proceedings!
Cheers!

Day thirty five, fabric, fabric!
I spent a rather enjoyable evening watching the Prof. and his wonders of life. I thought that the octopus was fascinating and I don't think I could have sat as calmly as he did on that boat with the huge alligator watching him.
Whilst I was watching, I was also multi-tasking and ironing all our clothes for this week as well as my stash of fabric. Ooh, I can't wait to get started on this project! I have lots to do yet, but I am worried that I won't have enough to cover all 12 sides of my cushions!
Oh well there's only my way to find out, start cutting, sewing and then panicking!
Till the morrow,

Day thirty four- sealed pot Sunday update!
Well it's been quite a productive weekend, with a whole outfit secured for the impending wedding and some scrimping and saving going into the pot too! I managed to put £40 in after a generous cash back, whilst also scraping about £6 in change from the washing machine, bedside table and car drawer.
It's also been a bit of an expensive weekend with my car tyre costing £70 because of a nail penetrating the whole tyre! Oops! Oh well I will have to scrimp on the shopping budget this month!
I am off now to sort out some fabric, ready for my Big project! Oooooooo!
Till the next time

Day twenty six - thoughts turning towards my BIG PROJECT!
My sofa seems to be deteriorating at a rapid speed. However my stash of fabric increased today with some more thick upholstery fabric! I can't wait to get going on this project! I have called in some talented ladies, my mum and mum no.2 to help. We are going to join forces during the half term to work together to cover my old tatty, sofa! I just hope that I have enough bits of fabric to sew together to cover it all!
Till the next time,
